Backpacking Packing List

- Backpack
- flashlight and extra batteries (easily accessible)
- large garbage bags (to cover packs at night or during rain)
- food bag and rope (to put food up a tree at night)
- Tent (make sure you have all parts!)
- Stove & fuel (information)
- Matches or lighter
- Saw (the Sven-Saw is a good one)
- Water containers (to carry water from water source- creek) - 1/2 gallon water jug works well
- way to purify water
- Small lantern (optional)
- Small trowel (example)
- Toilet paper
- Group tarp (optional in the case of rain)
- Pot and lid (do not use a regular mess kit)
- Skillet (best to use non-stick)
- Pot holder
- Spatula
- Table cloth (optional) (easy to make see Basic Sewing Honor)
- Plate and/or bowl
- Mug or cup (make sure that it can hold hot liquids- it's good to have one with a lid)
- oil
- salt & cinnamon
- spoon, fork and knife (Spork - also available at Walmart)
- biodegradable dish soap
- small towel
- sleeping bag (information)
- sleeping pad (information)
- something to sit on (optional - must be very light weight - a garbage bag will work) (Crazy Creek), (stool)
