Georgia-Cumberland Conference Camporee - April 19-22, 2018

Companion (6th grade) information

Just a reminder that on Wednesday evening, Nov. 29th, you need to drop off your Pathfinder by 6:45 PM at the Hulsey Wellness Center, and come to pick them up at 9:00 pm.  Beginner's Swimming will be taught.
________________________________________________________
Second semester the Companions will be earning the Basic Sewing Honor. Their project will be to complete a SonRise costume to use for the March 31 Pageant. (Pathfinders have a booth in the Marketplace and by participating they are fulfilling community outreach Companion classwork requirements.)
We are asking Pathfinders to provide their own fabric. When choosing fabric, choose solids and stripes...no flowers or unusual designs. Sheets may be bought at a linen outlet. (A twin-size flat sheet will make one costume.) Joann’s and Wal-Mart also have some good deals on their sale tables (3 yards of fabric should be enough for one costume). Sometimes the Samaritan Center or other thrift stores have material. Old tablecloths and curtains also work. (Try to stay away from silky/slick and knit/t-shirt type fabric as they are harder to sew.) If providing fabric will be a hardship for you, let me know.
Please have fabric by January 10th. We have scheduled 3-4 nights to work on the honor.
WE ALSO NEED SEWING MACHINES AND HELPERS!! It’s best to have one machine for each Pathfinder. If you have a machine and if you’re able to come with it and help please email me at jlazev@southern.edu or text me at 423-488-6917.  (It’s always better to have someone who knows their machine helping the Pathfinder who is using it.).

As we begin a new Pathfinder experience with your Pathfinder we don't want to overwhelm you with information, but we do want you to be informed about what we will be doing throughout the year, as well as make you aware of what your young person will need to do "at home".  As you get the items done, please send a not saying that they have finished it.  See the attachment on the unit page.

Registration 2017-2018

The Collegedale Pathfinder Club registration will be Wednesday, August 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.   Membership is open to children grades 5 through 12.  It is very important that at least one parent come with their Pathfinder(s).  Monthly dues for grades 5 and 6 is $25, dues for grades 7 and up are $30 a month. We will have copies of the forms at the meeting and also all needed forms can be found online here (Registration) to help you save time by filling them out before you come.

If you were in Pathfinders last year check to make sure your uniform still fits and if there is anything that you need to order.  Uniform information is in the Uniform section of the club website.

Honor Pathfinder Award of Excellence Program

Some of you may be planning on working on the Honor Pathfinder Award of Excellence Program next year.  There are several things that you can work on this summer if you want to get a head start.  Before you start the Service for Others project you must fill out the application, turn it in to the club secretary and have the project approved by October 31, 2017.
  • The requirements are in the Honor Pathfinder Program brochure.
  • Service for Others Project - this is an individual service project for others and community.  This project must be planned and done by you (the Pathfinder). The project should consist of at least 20 hours of planning and service.  Turn in the proposed project plan information by October 31, 2017.
  • Earn two extra AY Honors during the Pathfinder year outside of club time (this can be done during the summer).
  • The Honor Pathfinder Report must be turned in by February 22, 2018.
                      Honor Pathfinder Program
Honor Pathfinder Application (must be turned in by October 31, 2017)

Packing for campouts

We need everyone to start packing lighter and using smaller suitcases for club campouts. No over sized suitcases. Remember that they need to fin in the tents with other Pathfinder's stuff too. Don't try to put everything (sleeping bags, clothes, etc) all in one bag.  Packing List
