Backcountry First Aid
Everyone should carry his/her own first aid kit, you never know when an accident will happen. Take a page from the Boy Scouts and "Be prepared". This is the minimum that everyone should carry with them.
- triangular bandages: used for holding dressings over wounds for pressure bandages, and for immobilizing injury (1)
- gauze pads: sterile and absorbent (6 in mixed sizes)
- roller gauze: for wrapping and holding gauze pads in place (1)
- adhesive tape (1 small 1/2-inch roll)
- thick, absorbent compresses
- band-aids, assorted sizes (12)
- headache medicine (if used)
- prescription medicine (if required)
- moleskin (1 or 2 packets)
- triple-antibiotic ointment
- butterfly bandages (4)
- baby wipes or similar "dry washes" (4)
